Generic investment management is not offered here. We've thought deeply about how to measure risk and what rewards matter (hint: those you don't lose in the next market correction). Our investment process is founded on two key and time-tested insights gained from decades of investment management experience.
Risk is not static, investor timing decisions matter, and expectations change. We actively manage diversified holdings against multiple diversified investment theses simultaneously and actively position against changing risk expectations. Our investment process responds to market momentum and fundamental valuation while maintaining the capacity to take a strong protective stance to protect capital when non-cash asset correlations converge during times of market stress.
We use the expected shortfall risk measure which, mathematically speaking, is the fundamental coherent risk measure that succeeds where traditional risk measures like "standard deviation" and "value-at-risk" fail. This is especially true in the face of non-theoretical realities like actual market behavior where returns are neither "normal" nor symmetric as assumed in classical models like Modern Portfolio Theory.
